Interactive Books for Kids!

New Tecumseth Public Library now has three excellent databases from Tumble Books to read to and with your children! Check them all out and see which is best for your children.

	Tumble Books is a collection of animated, talking picture books with fiction, non-fiction and foreign-language (French & Spanish) titles; Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation); E-Books and Audio Books, which may be viewed online or downloaded for 90 days; Tumble Puzzles and Games; and Tumble Resources.

	Tumble Readables are Read-Along, on-line titles in categories such as Early Readers, Chapter Books, Teen Fiction, Classics & Drama/Poetry. The collection also includes downloadable E-Books which may be downloaded for 90 days. Download as many titles as you would like at one time! You can have them narrated aloud, turn the page automatically and you can even customize your screen for font size, text and screen colour. Read-Alongs are great for emergent, struggling and reluctant readers and will also appeal to accomplished readers who are excited to follow along in the narration of their favourite books!

	Tumble Talking Books is another collection of on-line streaming audio books and downloadable audio books which may be downloaded for 90 days. You may download as many as you would like at one time.

The world of children's books is a wonderful place where imaginations run wild and anything can happen. NTPL is proud to offer a wide variety of books for children from birth to teen - and beyond. Below are some of the books we most recommend for beginners and young readers.

Preschool (Up to 2 Years)

Big Fat Hen by Keith Baker. Nursery rhyme & counting all in one.
Mary Had a Little Lamb by by Sara Josepha Hale. Sing a rhyme!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. Rhythm, Rhyme & Repetition.
Splash! by Flora McDonnell. A brilliant baby elephant knows a clever way to cool off in the heat. Big, beautiful pictures.

Ages 3 - 5 Years

Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom - by Bill Martin Jr. Everyone will want to join in with rhythmic alphabet chant.
Guess How Much I Love You - by Sam McBratney. Little Nutbrown Hare wants Big Nutbrown Hare to know how much he loves him.
Mortimer - by Robert Munsch. Repitition and fun.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar - by Eric Carle. Practice counting as this hungry caterpillar tries to fill his ravenous appetite.

Ages 6 - 8 Years

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs - by Jon A. Scieszka. A humourous fractured fairy tale
Prince Cinders - by Babette Cole. Another humourous fractured fairy tale.
Jim and the Beanstalk - by Raymond Briggs. A third fractured fairy tale.

"Read With Me" - Ages 6 - 12 Years
Two identical books included in the set, one for parent and one for child, or one each for two siblings to share. Eliminate the tug-of-war when it's time to take turns reading aloud. Relax and hold onto your own copy. Enjoy our mini-collection of varied reading levels from grade one to grade six.
